Germany: Initial Steps Onto An International Stage

The first steps taken by Thuasne in Germany date back to the early 1980s. A technical partnership was later launched in 1989 with Pezet-Zimmermann, specialized in the computer-assisted knitting of tailor-made stockings. The subsequent acquisition of this company in 1991 gave rise to Thuasne Deutschland, which drove the development of an entire range of orthopaedic and compression products in Germany.

In 2008, a substantial expansion in Germany and multinational milestone was achieved by the acquisition of the German group Thämert, that also had distribution in Spain, Italy, the United Kingdom, United States and France. This acquisition offered Thuasne Deutschland a larger share of the German market and expertise in external silicone breast prostheses.

After few years developing small sub-contracting production activities in Eastern Europe, Thuasne implements its own factory in Romania in 2005.

With this new Romanian facility, Thuasne confirms its strategy of integration and increases its production capacity.

This facility development belongs to a multiannual plan implemented in the Group in order to reinforce its industrial facilities (France, Germany, United States, Czech-Republic, Romania).
